Principal Mechanical Engineer

Orion is working with a company that is a global engineering service provider specialising in designing, manufacturing, developing, and delivering automated and intelligent software solutions.

This role will involve technical leadership and guidance to a team of Mechanical Design Engineers, so experience in automation systems, including robotics and material handling equipment will be a distinct advantage.

Responsibilities of the Principal Mechanical Engineer

You'll be tasked with leading innovative design initiatives within the organisation.

The successful candidate will drive the technical strategies by leading multidisciplinary teams in the development of complex mechanical systems and components.

1. Conduct thorough analyses using FEA/structural analysis/fatigue analysis theory to validate designs.
2. Lead the R&D initiatives to create novel designs and oversee the design and integration of industrial automation systems.

What we would like from the Principal Mechanical Engineer:

1. BSc or MEng in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
2. Minimum of 5 years in mechanical design engineering with a proven track record of leading complex projects from conception to production.
3. Proficient in FEA, 3D CAD and 2D CAD.
