We are thrilled to offer an outstanding opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Functional Skills Teacher to join a well-established and professional organisation in Maidstone, Kent.

This organisation operates over 10 colleges nationwide, specialising in providing qualifications and training for students who thrive outside traditional academic settings.

As a Functional Skills Teacher, you will foster an inspiring learning environment where high expectations for student attendance, achievement, success, and progression are the norm. You will play a key role in the development and delivery of Functional Skills qualifications in Maths and English, from Entry Level through to Level 2, ensuring your lessons are aligned with up-to-date curriculum knowledge and the specific needs of your students.

Working alongside a team of dedicated teachers, teaching assistants, and senior leadership, you will have the support and resources you need to succeed. This organisation is committed to valuing its staff, offering flexible working hours and clear pathways for career progression.

If you have a passion for shaping the future of young learners, empowering them to reach their full potential, and instilling confidence along the way, then this role is perfect for you. We welcome candidates interested in both full-time and part-time positions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver engaging and effective Functional Skills lessons in Maths and English.
  2. Ensure all lessons are tailored to meet individual student needs, encouraging progress and success.
  3. Work collaboratively with the team to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
  4. Play an integral role in the development of the curriculum, ensuring it is relevant and up to date.
  5. Support students in building confidence and achieving their personal learning goals.

What We're Looking For:
  1. A recognised teaching qualification.
  2. Experience in delivering Functional Skills in both Maths and English, from Entry Level to GCSE.
  3. A strong understanding of the Study Programme and the application of effective planning and assessment techniques.
  4. Knowledge of behavioural theories and strategies, with experience in applying them in the classroom.
  5. Familiarity with statutory requirements, including Equality and Diversity, health and safety, safeguarding, and child protection.
  6. An understanding of how to adapt a range of teaching, learning, and behaviour management strategies to ensure all students achieve their potential.
  7. Relevant classroom teaching experience.
  8. The ability to build positive and professional relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders.
  9. Experience working with disengaged or hard-to-reach young learners (ages 14-19).
  10. A collaborative approach, contributing to the College's goal of achieving consistent OFSTED ratings of 'Good' or 'Outstanding'.

If you are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of young learners and looking for an opportunity to grow within a supportive and dynamic organisation, we would love to hear from you.
