Mitie Healthcare, part of the Mitie Communities, is looking to recruit a Commercial Manager, who will report to the Senior Commercial Manager, working as part of a highly talented team within one of our flagship accounts. The successful candidate will be responsible for all commercial & contractual functions within your area of responsibility, assisting to develop and implement overall strategy, growth and profitability.

The focus of this role is to provide commercial support within a PFI healthcare service setting in Liverpool, England with a great opportunity to make a real difference to this contract.

Some elements of this role can be worked remotely however, regular travel to site will be required.

Main Duties

These include assisting the Senior Commercial Manager and account lead in developing commercial management processes and control measures which are designed to minimise risk and maximise operational performance of the contract. Examples of this include but are not limited to the ongoing management and analysis of variations, payment mechanism inputs and outputs, claim management, reconciliations of billing mechanisms etc.

Preparing contract schedules of deliverables, obligations calendars, commercial briefing and training sessions to improve commercial expertise and raise awareness in operations.

The successful candidate will also assist in finalising conditions of contract for new work and provide advice and support to aid correct management of new work.

Reporting and providing accurate and timely commercial information as required by Senior Management Team and Clients.

Providing support to Operation's team for more complex negotiations, mitigating penalty deductions and dispute/claim resolutions.

Taking a leading role and assisting with value testing (benchmarking/market testing) of PFI Contract Services.

Monitor and maintain commercial team performance including monthly reporting on commercial issues, highlights, risks and opportunities.

Assisting in the review and setting Targets on PFI contracts and the application of any pain/gain share mechanisms.

Liaising with in-house and external solicitors as needed.

Carrying out other commercial duties as directed by the Senior Commercial Manager in relation to the contract.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree educated
  • Demonstrable experience of dealing with multiple stakeholders in a similar industry
  • Be able to anticipate problems and ensure early intervention
  • Show experience in managing PFI contracts and in particular the application of PFI payment mechanisms, negotiation and dispute management and value testing PFI projects
  • Possess strong commercial negotiation skills
  • Effective teamwork and leadership skills
  • Excellent Influencing and Negotiation skills
  • Business and Strategic awareness
  • Proven record of achieving results
