Job Role: Project Engineer

Reports to: IT Operations Manager

Overview:

This position will provide technical delivery and governance to a wide scope of projects for our client's customers within a project lifecycle to ensure effective and efficient delivery of strategic goals through bespoke solutions based upon their clients' requirements. The role will be accountable for planning and overseeing projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget. Prior experience in managing IT projects is essential, as well as an excellent technical background with strong networking and Azure experience. They will also identify smarter ways of working through post project analysis and new technologies. The role will require excellent organisation, communication, and relationship-building skills.

The Project Engineer will work closely with the IT Operations Manager and Strategic Account Managers to keep them appraised of all live projects. They will be responsible for ensuring projects are smoothly transitioned to the Service Desk for ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Ensure excellent customer experience through effective delivery of projects to the agreed cost, time, scope, quality, and security constraints.
2. Provide regular, accurate and timely client reporting to meet and exceed customers' expectations.
3. Deliver technical projects, utilising Project Support Engineers where required to further their skills.
4. Establish regular, clear, and consistent channels of communication at all levels within the organisation and with the client.
5. Establish clear objectives and expectations throughout the project, ensuring everyone understands their role.
6. Help drive continuous improvement of project management processes and practices.
7. Identify smarter ways of working for both our client and their clients to improve efficiency.
8. Proactively manage customer relationships to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.
9. Provide monthly project pipeline/utilisation data to support effective business decisions.

Skills required:

1. Previous experience as a project engineer is essential.
2. Good knowledge of Windows Server, Virtual environments including VMWare, SQL Server, entire Microsoft stack, Networking LAN, WAN, VPN and Wireless, Active Directory, Antivirus.
3. Microsoft Azure IaaS and AVD experience is essential.
4. Excellent communication skills are essential.
5. Driving license is essential.
6. Ability to manage a diverse workload and work calmly under pressure with an organised and methodical approach to tasks.
7. Relevant experience of working in an IT setting.
8. Exceptional team working skills.
9. A recognised qualification in project/programme management such as Prince 2 or APM is desirable but not essential.
10. The ability and desire to develop the role and make it your own.
