Senior Project Engineer

Via East Midlands are currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our Infrastructure Design – Projects team based at our Trent Bridge House Office in West Bridgford, Nottingham.

What you’ll do:

  1. Lead, design and deliver highway and civil engineering projects including highway geometric alignment, pavement, and drainage design, specification and contract documentation.
  2. Provide design, technical and cost advice including checking and approvals to relevant standards to support delivery of complex and large-scale projects across the organisation.
  3. Manage the evaluation and authorisation of externally designed engineering schemes on behalf of clients to ensure highway network asset meets regional and national design specification and safety standards.
  4. Collaborate with Via’s Construction and Commercial Division to manage workflow thereby achieving company business plan objectives.
  5. Coach, mentor and develop technical expertise of team members to support with achieving individual performance targets and future potential.
  6. Manage consultation, communication and liaison with clients and stakeholders including members of the public and elected Members to facilitate project delivery.

What we’re seeking:

  1. A degree in Civil Engineering or a related subject and post qualification experience or knowledge gained in a highway and/or civil engineering design environment.
  2. Chartered or Incorporated Engineer or Engineering Technician and Member of a Professional Institution (relevant discipline) or working towards with a development plan to gain chartership or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience demonstrated by CDP record.
  3. Strong ICT skills used to support highway design and civil engineering activities including working knowledge of current computer aided design with 3D design software, Microsoft Office and knowledge of data management environments.
  4. Extensive working knowledge of current highway design and civil engineering standards, contracts, and current Construction Design Management (CDM) Regulations.
  5. Experience of managing project budgets, financial reporting of project programme and all stages of project implementation from feasibility to construction on site.
  6. A Full UK Driving Licence.
