Job description

JOB TITLE – Teacher of Music

Contract: Permanent, full time

Salary: M1 – M6 (£31,650-£43,607)

Start: 1 September 2025

We are looking for a passionate and inspiring qualified Teacher of Music to join our supportive and talented team at Hans Price Academy. The ability to teach a second subject is required. We are a growing organisation, looking for professional and ambitious people, with a passion for transforming our students’ learning.

Hans Price Academy is a forward-thinking secondary school based in Weston-Super-Mare. The children at Hans Price Academy are excited to learn and are real ambassadors for our increasingly diverse community. They benefit from a hugely positive and supportive learning environment housed in excellent, modern facilities.

At Hans Price, we believe that at the heart of our students’ learning experience is the quality of what we deliver, and we continually strive to provide excellent opportunities in a broad range of subjects and extra-curricular settings. Fulfilment of individual potential is at the very heart of what we hope to achieve, and the development of students’ wider character alongside high academic expectations is something that we feel very strongly about.

What we are looking for:

Teachers support a designated cohort of students to make progress in their learning, engagement, core literacy, language and numeracy skills, and social development. This is achieved through taking responsibility for the learning of students - planning, delivering, facilitating and assessing their learning whilst showing ambition to develop as an outstanding teacher and leader. They will plan and deliver sessions and interventions, and provide a point of accountability, co-ordination and liaison for the students in their attendance, for their families and for professionals working with them. They will work towards typically good and outstanding lessons that achieve good student progress over time. This will be actioned by taking an active role in supporting the Academy’s high expectations of student behaviour and attitudes towards learning.

Your duties will specifically include:

  • Planning outstanding lessons that meet the needs of all students whilst developing a high-quality programme of study that includes accurate target setting.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of students and take appropriate action to ensure all students achieve their potential through exceptional methods of feedback.
  • Meeting the needs of learners from key identified groups, including pupil premium, looked after children, SEND and High Attaining students.
  • Recognise, value and support the delivery of opportunities which extend beyond the confines of classroom delivery and seek to enrich and add value to the students' experience & learning.
  • Empowered to develop your own expert practice and support the development of others.

Full details are contained within the attached job description and person specification.

The academy welcomes visits from potential candidates. If you would like to arrange a school visit prior to the closing date, please contact the academy directly to arrange a suitable appointment.
