Mechanical Design Engineer - Special Purpose Machinery & Automation Experts Only

Not all design engineers are cut out for this role. If you don’t have experience in Special Purpose Machinery and Automation, this isn’t for you.

They’re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in automation and bespoke machinery design. Ideally, you’ll have worked in pharmaceutical manufacturing, but if you’ve designed highly complex automated machinery in another regulated industry, you might still be a good fit.

This is a fully remote role, but you’ll need to visit UK sites occasionally for customer meetings or staff events. If you’re ready to take on challenging, high-impact projects, keep reading.

The Role

• Design & Develop - Lead the design of bespoke mechanical solutions, creating specifications and detailed drawings for automation and specialised machinery.
• Collaborate & Create - Work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs are precise, cost-effective, and production-ready.
• Innovate & Improve - Identify ways to enhance existing designs and processes, driving efficiency and quality.

What You’ll Need

• Special Purpose Machinery & Automation experience - If you haven’t worked on these, this role isn’t for you.
• Pharmaceutical manufacturing experience is highly preferred - If not, experience in other highly regulated industries designing complex automated machinery will be considered.
• CAD expertise - Strong skills in 3D CAD software.
• Engineering problem-solving skills - A detail-focused, quality-driven approach.
• Excellent communication - You’ll be working with diverse teams, so collaboration is key.
• Relevant qualifications - A degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
