Job description

Do you have experience and a passion for supporting people with additional needs or mental health challenges? If so, this is a fantastic opportunity to help shape two new innovative independent living services in Central Northumberland.

We are looking for a dedicated, passionate and experienced Team Leader to join our team at Turning Point who will have the skills to prioritise working across the two new services. We have one service which has recently opened in Cramlington. The scheme consists of eight self-contained apartments. We also have a scheme which is currently under development and due to open in August 2025. This is in the heart of Bedlington and will consist of 12 self-contained apartments. Both services will provide intensive housing related support for adults who may have enduring mental health backgrounds, autism, learning disabilities or physical health needs.

Drivers are preferred for this role.

Role Responsibility

As a Team Leader you’ll make a real difference to individuals' lives as you work closely with them to help them achieve their potential. You will form part of a supportive management team within the region and there is the opportunity for growth in the future.

As a Team Leader you will support the development of this service alongside the management team, providing coaching and supervision to a team of Support Workers, enabling the service to meet and exceed outcomes and quality requirements that promote and develop independence for the individuals we support. You will have oversight of referrals and assessments to the service and will work closely with internal and external multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the best possible outcomes for individuals we support. You will be supported to develop and monitor rotas and ensure that pay variable claims are correct and authorised.

Shift Patterns: Both locations are 24-hour services, therefore flexibility is essential. You will manage your working hours to meet the needs of the service. You will be required to work a percentage of your hours on rota/off rota, including ‘sleep in duty’ and some weekends.

The Ideal Candidate

It is essential that you have previous relevant experience of using a person-centred approach in a Mental Health setting and a good understanding of the additional complex needs of individuals we support. You must be capable of prioritising your own workload and using your initiative. As an effective team player, you will possess excellent communication skills, a flexible approach, a positive attitude and be able to adapt in a changeable environment.

A background working in an environment supporting vulnerable people in the community is desirable. Experience of service planning and ensuring that services are well positioned to meet contractual requirements would also be advantageous. You will also have experience of supporting and coaching staff teams to provide high quality person-centred support. Experience of working with individuals with dual diagnoses is preferred but not essential.
