Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Principal Commercial Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Complex Facilities Business Unit. This is a Remote role that requires occasional travel across Midlands and South of England.

Are you an experienced Principal Commercial Manager (QS trained) with experience in Facilities Management and Planned/Reactive Contracts?

Here at Amey, we have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Commercial Manager to support the Head of Commercial across the Midlands and south of England. You will be responsible for the coaching, development and recruitment of a commercial team and a role model for Amey’s Inclusion and Diversity policy, encouraging an open and honest environment.

The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours based on Monday – Friday.

You will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining commercial control to enable timely and accurate submissions of payment applications.
  • Producing accurate commercial reports and cost data.
  • Monitoring and reviewing Supply Chain performance.
  • Pricing works and maximising revenue opportunities.
  • Managing supplier payments in line with contractual and company policy.
  • Working closely with procurement to engage and appoint specialist supply chain partners.
  • Attending meetings, providing reports and liaising with all stakeholders on commercial matters.
  • Assisting Commercial & Risk Manager in preparing dispute avoidance strategy and any dispute resolution.
  • Ensuring Security and Fraud prevention systems and processes are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensuring good general knowledge of contract processes and procedures are always adhered to, advising and supporting as required.
  • Identifying business priorities and effectively planning and implementing.
  • Maintaining good working relationships with key stakeholders.

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Commercial QS experience in Facilities Management, construction, property maintenance or related field including:
  • Preparation of work proposals/tenders.
  • Excellent working knowledge of commercial processes.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships and a collaborative working environment.
  • Experience of working on complex, multi-site operations.
  • PFI experience is essential.
  • Ability to analyse and report on key business data and metrics.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Membership of Professional Body.
  • Utility & Carbon Reduction Training would be desirable.
