Kootenay Lake Regional Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Switchboard Operator Registration Clerk to join their team in Nelson B.C! Hours of work are rotating days & evenings - 06:45 to 14:45, 06:45 to 13:15, 14:30 to 21:00, 13:00 to 21:00, 08:45 to 15:15.

This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements can vary from 0 - 37.5 hours per week.

What Will You Work On?
In this role you will perform a variety of switchboard, registration and cashier duties such as:

1. Operates switchboard and public address system and other paging device systems;
2. Receives and directs patients and visitors;
3. Responds to and monitors hospital alarms and emergency codes;
4. Maintains physician on-call/vacation lists and other hospital staff;
5. Patient registration;
6. Admitting clerical duties with bed booking options;
7. Cashier duties - receiving payments; recording payments in cash journals and/or summary sheets; and issuing change and receipts;
8. Receives, checks and deposits patient valuables for safekeeping.

What should your application include?
• Confirmation of completion of Grade 12;
• A current Typing Test of 45 wpm or greater completed within past 48 months from a recognized institution;
• Your Resume indicating one year’s recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
• A Cover Letter stating your availability.

Casual employment includes: short-notice, on-call availability; workload coverage during a temporary absence; and/or providing relief coverage in a specific position.
