Job description

Skanska, one of the world’s leading project development and construction groups, is an inclusive and responsible business that is helping to build a better society.

Working on our key MoD contract near Watford, we are seeking an experienced, site based Senior Project Manager to lead and oversee Capital, Lifecycle, Small Works, and statutory compliance projects. Reporting to the Defence Capital Works Lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality projects on time and within budget.

What you’ll do:

  1. Oversee and manage all project work, including design, tender processes, material and resource planning, and execution through direct or contract labour.
  2. Lead, mentor, and coordinate a team of Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and Construction Managers.
  3. Provide guidance and development opportunities for the project team, ensuring compliance with industry best practices and legislation.
  4. Conduct Personal Development Reviews and support training programs for the project management team.
  5. Plan and coordinate works with key stakeholders to ensure minimal disruption to daily operations while delivering efficient and cost-effective project execution.
  6. Collaborate with Operations Directors, Project Directors, General Managers, and H&S representatives to deliver defect-free projects on schedule and with zero lost time injuries.
  7. Maintain accurate project documentation, including tracking and invoicing, ensuring timely cost recovery.
  8. Conduct feasibility studies and provide budget estimates.
  9. Work closely with package managers and authorised personnel to implement safe systems of work and permit processes.
  10. Ensure proper handover documentation and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for all completed work packages.

What you'll bring to the role:

  1. Proven track record as a Project Manager, successfully delivering multiple projects within a Facilities Management (FM) environment.
  2. Strong leadership and team management experience.
  3. Demonstrated success in managing a diverse range of supply chain contractors, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  4. Knowledge of CDM Regulations (2015), including the role of Principal Contractor and compliance with current legislation.
  5. Experience with AutoCAD and TruView, including the ability to update drawings with new O&M information in collaboration with contractors and designers.
  6. Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage client and internal relationships effectively.
  7. Ability to manage multiple complex projects, ranging in value from £1,000 to £1 million.
  8. Able to gain high level of MoD Security Clearance – one requirement being you must have resided in the UK for the past 10 years.
