Sector: Engineering
Role: Professional
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full Time

We are looking for a skilled Calibration Engineer with a strong background in laboratory calibration within a UKAS-accredited environment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in calibrating a wide range of instruments, including temperature, dimensional, torque, pressure, frequency, and related disciplines.

This role is based within the RS calibration laboratory situated in our Corby facility.

Our calibration laboratory supports a wide range of test and measurement products, from digital multi-meters to waveform generators, and physical equipment such as steel rules and pressure calibrators. In this role, you will be responsible for calibrating both new instruments purchased from the RS catalogue and returned equipment (from RS and non-RS customers) for recalibration, ensuring all work is in compliance with our UKAS and BSI certifications.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead and perform calibrations on a variety of test and measurement equipment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards and accreditations (ISO 17025, ISO 9001).
  • Work collaboratively with the team to meet customer requirements and ensure items are dispatched within the department's published turnaround times.
  • Conduct internal calibration of reference standards and laboratory equipment.
  • Contribute to the development of calibration methodologies, ensuring adherence to best practices and enhancing the laboratory's service offerings.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to colleagues, supporting their development and updating procedures as needed.
  • Participate in UKAS audits and be representative in your area of expertise.
What do I need to be successful?

If you have the following skills and experience, we want to hear from you:

  • Extensive experience in laboratory calibration across temperature, torque, pressure, dimensional, and related disciplines.
  • In-depth understanding of UKAS accreditation, external audits, and compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience in developing calibration methods, equipment maintenance, and process improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize laboratory instruments and measurement systems.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel.
  • Degree/City & Guilds/ONC/BTEC in a relevant STEM field (or equivalent experience).
  • A working knowledge of COSHH.
What's in it for you?

At RS, as well as the usual employee benefits you'd expect from a FTSE listed company, including an annual performance bonus, private healthcare, and generous holiday, in the UK&I, we've just introduced several new Family Friendly Policies including:
