Job description

Carmichael UK are seeking a permanent MEP based Senior Planning Manager to join a tier 1 contractor on the HS2 project in London. Reporting to the Planning Manager for Shafts and MEP, the Lead Planner for MEP will be responsible for the MEP programme development, co-ordination, and reporting for HS2 lots.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop the SCS MEP programme focusing on construction, commissioning, and handover. Integrating the SCS process timelines and the subcontract supplier programmes.
  2. Ensuring the programme meets all required access dates, milestones and key dates, contract data and works information.
  3. Interface with the supply chain and assets to ensure that there is a consistency in planning and management of subcontract programmes.
  4. Assess the subcontractors Clause 31 and 32 submissions, ensuring that these programmes are compliant to the subcontract requirements.
  5. Assess subcontract changes and impacted programmes, supporting the commercial and package management in their assessment.
  6. Contribute to assessment of MEP programme risks and programme risk analysis, including development and implementation of mitigation measures.
  7. Progress monitoring and regular updating of the programme, including forecasting of potential problem areas and mitigation proposals as required.
  8. Pursuing excellence and continuous improvement of the SCS construction planning approach, modification of standard processes and procedures for effective and continuous improvement.
  9. Assessment of change and PMI's and communication from the Employer and the impacts as required.
  10. Appraisal, review and assessment of supply chain programmes and inclusion in main programme as required.
  11. Support the Development and submission of construction phase plans for Headhouse Works.
  12. Provision of reports on progress and key programme issues for senior management team.
  13. Ensure each programme submitted shall pay particular attention to dependencies, critical path, and programme delays.
  14. Work with commercial and project teams to include the impact of changes into programmes.
  15. Drive continuous improvement within SCS and supply chain planning.
  16. Input into client dependency analysis and reporting.

Qualifications & Skills

Essential:

  1. Experience in a similar level role, responsible for the Programme co-ordination of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health systems, during construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.
  2. A professional qualification or degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related subject.
  3. Knowledge of the development and implementation of asset structures, planning standards, WBS and planning processes.
  4. Competence in Primavera P6 and Tilos.
  5. Knowledge of Safety, Environment and Risk Management.
  6. Flexible with good organisation skills.

Desirable:

  1. Experience of MEP Programme Management on a major rail project.
  2. Experience of Early Contractor Involvement models and NEC forms of contract.
  3. Expert knowledge of products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.
  4. Experience of a self-assurance contract environment.
  5. Microsoft Office Packages.
  6. MS Projects.
  7. Knowledge of M&E systems and installation processes.
  8. Understanding of commissioning requirements and processes.
  9. Experience in programming M&E services packages, minimum of 5 years.

Must be happy to visit site 3 days a week, 2 days working from home.
