The Senior Data Governance Analyst maintains a robust Data Governance framework within the organization through the execution of key data initiatives. This is a crucial role in safeguarding data integrity and helps facilitate informed decision-making through effective data management.
What you will be doing
- Data Policies and Standards: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enforce data policies, standards, and procedures to govern data usage, access, and handling across the organization.
- Data Stewardship: Partner with data stewards who are responsible for data ownership, classification, and metadata management, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Master Data Management (MDM): Ensure accountability for the implementation and maintenance of MDM processes to uphold data integrity, quality, and compliance with governance policies.
- Data Documentation: Maintain comprehensive data documentation, including data dictionaries, data catalogues, lineage, and data flow diagrams.
- Data Governance Technical SME: Maintain metadata within key Data Governance Platforms; Microsoft Purview & Profisee (MDM)
- Authority in Data Project Support: Lead data governance projects and initiatives as needed. Ensure that data projects align with key Data Governance principles through guidance and vigilant oversight.
- Lead Key Data Initiatives: Spearhead and drive key initiatives across all dimensions of Data Governance, including: Data Minimization, Data Loss Prevention, Data Backups & Recovery, Data Quality, Data Classification, Data Catalogue & Lineage, Master Data Management, and Data Compliance.
- Data Training Delivery and Ownership: Empower and guide users in understanding data governance policies and adhering to the highest standards of best practices. Propose recommendations and changes to core processes and methods, in order to improve data management processes and decrease privacy risks.
- In addition to the above key responsibilities, you may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as the Company may reasonably require.
What you will bring:
- 7+ years’ experience in a data discipline.
- 3 years' experience in a Data Governance or related roles (e.g. Senior Business Analyst, Senior Data Analyst, Compliance Analyst, Data Steward).
- Hands on experience in Data Governance and Data Management initiatives including Master Data Management.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Data Management, Computer Science or related discipline.
- Direct experience in Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence including Power BI, Cognos, Microsoft Reporting Services tooling.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tooling (SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams).
- Experience in Microsoft Purview Data Governance modules.
- Demonstrable experience in leading data initiatives & process improvements.
- Experience in working with data privacy regulations and compliance.
- Insurance (e.g. US Workers’ Comp, Casualty, Property, Liability, or Reinsurance) or Finance domain knowledge.
- In-depth understanding of Data Governance principles and best practices.
- Knowledge of data management concepts, data modelling, and database technologies.
- Familiarity with Data Management tools, data governance software, and data modeling.
- Subject Matter Expert in key Data Protection regulations (General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA)) and industry standards and best practices.
- Awareness of emerging trends in Data Governance and data analytics e.g. AI and Machine Learning.
- Industry-specific knowledge of data security protocols, policies, and regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical, written, oral, and presentation skills with proven track record of effectively communicating actionable insights.
- Excellent communication & user interaction skills – the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of customers including subject matter experts, managers and executives varying levels of skill and experience.
