Job Title: Client Relationship Manager
Location: Remote
Reporting to: VP of Marketing
Job Summary:
At BG, we help organisations build better governance. From advisory to on-demand placements, and from community initiatives to curated events, we support company secretaries, governance professionals, and GCs with trusted, practical solutions that deliver real impact. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a talented Client Relationship Manager to help us deepen relationships and expand our reach across our key markets.
This is a people-first, commercially focused role. You’ll be responsible for building and nurturing relationships with potential clients—helping them understand the value of our offerings, from our consulting solutions and outsourced services to our events, insights, and governance community.
You’ll act as the bridge between our clients’ business needs and our internal expertise—ensuring that BG is front of mind when governance needs arise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and Maintain Relationships with Prospective Clients
- Proactively identify and connect with governance decision-makers (e.g. General Counsels, Company Secretaries, Heads of Legal) at target organisations.
- Establish and nurture long-term, trust-based relationships that position BG as a go-to partner for governance support.
- Use insight-led conversations to educate prospective clients about BG’s services and the value we offer.
- Understand Client Businesses in Depth
- Conduct detailed research into prospective client organisations, including their governance structures, strategic priorities, and resourcing models.
- Stay up to date on sector trends, regulatory developments, and client-specific news to add relevance and credibility to conversations.
- Translate client challenges and gaps into meaningful commercial opportunities for BG.
- Drive Awareness of BG’s Services, Events, and Community Offerings
- Ensure your network is regularly informed of BG’s activities—such as events, roundtables, reports, and our Governance Gateway community.
- Personalise outreach based on client interests and needs, ensuring relevance and engagement.
- Act as a connector—inviting relevant individuals to join BG events or community forums that would benefit their role or organisation.
- Collaborate Internally to Convert Opportunities
- Work closely with the marketing team to align on campaigns, nurture flows, and content that supports your outreach.
- Collaborate with consulting and service delivery teams to ensure client needs are accurately represented and translated into tailored proposals.
- Participate in regular pipeline meetings to report progress, share insight, and contribute to team targets.
- Manage the Relationship Lifecycle and Pipeline
- Maintain accurate, detailed records of interactions, notes, and next steps in our CRM system.
- Track your own activity and conversion metrics to support ongoing business development efforts.
- Identify warm leads, dormant contacts, and untapped sectors where BG could build greater traction.
- Represent BG at External Events and Forums
- Attend relevant conferences, industry panels, networking events and client meetings as a representative of BG.
- Support the planning and delivery of BG-hosted events by helping secure the right attendees and following up with participants.
- Spot partnership or speaker opportunities that can raise our brand profile or generate leads.
- Support Strategic Account Growth (Post-Win)
- In partnership with delivery and leadership teams, support relationship continuity post-engagement to ensure satisfaction and uncover future opportunities.
- Keep in touch with previous contacts who move roles, to retain relationships and uncover potential new business.
About You
- You’re commercially minded, but relationship-first.
- You’re a natural connector—curious, engaging, and genuinely interested in understanding how businesses work.
- You’re proactive and organised, comfortable juggling multiple client conversations and follow-ups.
- You’ve got experience in professional services, governance, legal, or B2B relationship management roles.
- You understand the dynamics of complex organisations, and can hold credible conversations with senior leaders.
- You care about doing work that matters—and helping clients navigate important, often sensitive challenges.
- Familiarity with governance, legal or compliance environments.
- Experience working with or selling into FTSE-listed or regulated businesses.
- CRM tools (e.g. HubSpot, Salesforce) and reporting dashboards.
- Exposure to consulting, resourcing, or membership/community models.
What We Offer
- The opportunity to shape a growing business at the forefront of governance.
- A collaborative, values-driven culture where your voice matters.
- Ongoing support and training to grow in the role and beyond.
- Flexible working arrangements and a strong emphasis on work-life balance.
