Job description

The Medical Oncology Division of Population Sciences wishes to hire a Research Project Manager I to help manage several oncology-related health services projects. The RPM will be responsible for day-to-day coordination and overall management of activities for assigned health outcome research protocols including multi-center, PI-initiated cancer care delivery projects. This group is largely focused on research related to care delivery for patients with blood cancers and the ethics of cancer care.

Activities include coordinating project startup and site startup activities, providing training to research staff, regulatory submissions, participant accrual tracking and reporting, conducting teleconferences, vendor management, coordinating communication with regulatory authorities, and interacting with grant management staff. There are opportunities to contribute to research publications for qualified candidates. The RPM will be responsible to report on program-defined deliverables, to identify variances in project plans and to develop contingency plans when necessary to keep project milestones on track. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated individual who wishes to become a key member of a growing research enterprise.

The RPM will also be assigned to oversee various operational and training aspects of the PIs' research enterprise. The RPM will work closely and collaboratively with a variety of faculty and staff at all levels throughout Dana-Farber, and also will work in collaboration with the OnCore data informatics team, the Office for Human Research Studies (OHRS), and other key stakeholders. The RPM will develop infrastructure, procedures, and tracking systems for project management services performed. Project management responsibilities will include coordinating the onboarding of new research staff training, maintaining workflows, and defining grant and research specific reporting for the DFCI. The RPM will be supervised and supported to develop and implement strategies that will ensure compliance, consistency, and accountability in all assigned research activities.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day oversight and management of assigned projects from the PI's research portfolio.
• Assisting PI with initial IRB applications and subsequent amendments.
• Scheduling and facilitating research team meetings and conference calls.
• Help with training of research assistants and coordinators.
• Assuring project teams meet deadlines and maintaining an ongoing working relationship with research team including external investigators.
• Preparing status reports for key stakeholders. Depending on project needs, reports may include information about project timelines, status of deliverables, and/or resources requirements.
• Assisting in the development of research publications for assigned projects.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public health, social sciences, statistics, or related field preferred.
• Master's degree (MPH or equivalent) preferred.
• 1-3 years related experience working in a clinical, academic research, or similar setting.
• Knowledge of regulatory affairs, research ethics, and the responsible conduct of research.
• Essential attention to detail, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while balancing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
• Ability to both work as a team member as well as effectively and proactively lead teams.
