Devops Engineer AWS (healthcare or pharma sector)
Role: DevOps Engineer (AWS)
Location: Hammersmith, London
Nature: 1/2 days onsite
Responsibilities:
- Defining and maintaining existing policies and procedures to ensure alignment with best practices.
- Ensuring new processes are implemented correctly through training and education.
- Maintain and create infrastructure documentation.
- Ensure system backups are monitored, maintained, and tested regularly.
- Monitor and maintain threat detection applications.
- Develop and monitor a hardware security patching process completed on a monthly cycle.
- Manage the software and operating system life cycle for all products implemented within the business; plan and implement updates as required.
- Monitor the current hardware and software estate to ensure timely upgrades for products going end of life.
- Provision infrastructure components within the AWS cloud environment required by the Development team.
- Maintain the asset register for all implemented hardware.
- Manage the change control system for applications.
- Implement system monitoring to ensure healthy environments.
- Activate early warning notifications to enable proactive resolution of potential incidents.
- Regular system log monitoring to comply with application requirements.
- Monitor and act upon Vantage application logs indicating potential system or security issues.
- Actively manage Vantage users, including activation, creation, and retirement tasks.
- Maintain application access control for external products (Jira/GitHub).
- Manage the Research data load process in AWS Redshift.
- Distribute monthly reports created by the Product Team analysts.
- Manage the annual Vantage penetration test and remediation tasks.
- Implement disaster recovery in AWS (multiple zones) and conduct regular testing to comply with business policies.
- Ensure systems used by the business have two-factor authentication implemented where possible.
- Implement and monitor a Web Application Firewall to secure systems from intruder/actor penetration.
- Maintain access control records for all data held within the business unit.
- Manage and onboard new services.
- Provide release management support.
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree level education, ideally in Information Technology (not essential).
- Relevant experience in a similar role (2-3 years minimum).
- Experience or interest in the healthcare and/or pharmaceutical sector.
