Job description

Key Responsibilities:

Overseeing and leading the County Councils' in-house design team across various transport projects.
Collaborating with different teams to provide technical input and expertise throughout the pre-construction phase.
Ensuring efficient and effective design and delivery of transport infrastructure projects.
Leading the design of customer-focused solutions, setting delivery outcomes, and defining service outcomes.
Managing the technical approval, budget, and risk assessments for pre-construction projects.
Implementing and managing robust design programmes utilizing project management software like MS Project and POWA.
Promoting low carbon designs and innovative solutions in collaboration with partners.
Providing leadership support within the Project Delivery team to ensure high-quality project design and delivery.

Job Requirements:

Extensive technical expertise in highway design and related activities.
Proven experience in programme and project management with a focus on health and safety, resourcing, and design activities.
Strong knowledge of Health and Safety laws, especially the Construction Design and Management Regulations (CDM).
Ability to create performance reports and recommend improvements for financial savings.
Proficiency in project management software tools such as ASTA or MS Project and design software like AutoCAD.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to persuade and influence senior managers and stakeholders.
Experience in managing a multi-disciplinary professional workforce and leading design teams on infrastructure projects.
Ability to develop and implement focused strategies for value for money and innovative design solutions.
