Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Data Engineer with a specialism in SEO to join our team. This role is crucial in developing and maintaining data pipelines, analytics systems, and automation tools that enhance our SEO performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in data engineering, a deep understanding of SEO metrics, and experience working with large-scale data sets.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to collect, process, and analyze SEO-related data from multiple sources.
  • Develop and optimize data models, storage solutions, and ETL processes to support SEO analytics and reporting.
  • Work closely with SEO, marketing, and product teams to provide actionable insights using data-driven approaches.
  • Implement automation for SEO audits, keyword tracking, backlink analysis, and other SEO tasks.
  • Integrate third-party SEO tools and APIs (e.g., Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog) into data pipelines.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting solutions to visualize SEO performance and trends.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across all SEO data sources.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to understand specific data requirements or output requirements, and tailor our proprietary tech to answer these challenges.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to build predictive models for organic search performance.
  • Work with your managers and directors to put together roadmaps and support colleagues' workload as and when necessary.
  • Work with internal teams outside of the performance team, building relationships to emphasize the importance of SEO tools.
  • Participate in technical training roadmap with directors and managers to fill in gaps in knowledge amongst the team.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer, SEO Analyst with data engineering experience, or a related role.
  • Strong expertise in SQL, Python, and data processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Airflow, dbt).
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based data solutions (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift).
  • In-depth knowledge of SEO metrics, search algorithms, and technical SEO principles.
  • Experience working with APIs from Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMrush, Ahrefs, and similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with web crawling, scraping techniques, and SEO automation tools.
  • Strong understanding of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Power BI) for SEO reporting.
  • Ability to write clean, scalable, and efficient code for data processing and automation.
  • Experience working with large-scale data sets and optimizing query performance.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Skills:

  • Understanding of SEO forecasting & predictive modelling, applying statistical modeling and time series forecasting techniques to predict organic traffic trends.
  • Experience with machine learning models for SEO (e.g., ranking predictions, content recommendations).
  • Knowledge of web performance metrics and Core Web Vitals Optimisation.
  • Experience with structured data, schema markup and log file analysis for SEO.
  • Understanding of Javascript, HTML and CSS in the context of SEO.
  • Understanding of NLP techniques (e.g., entity recognition, keyword clustering, sentiment analysis) to analyze content relevance and search intent.
