With a strong track record of funding and over £10bn in transactions processed, we’re on an exciting growth trajectory. As part of our data-driven expansion, we’re seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our high-performing team.

The Role:

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will work within a collaborative data team to design, build, and optimise data pipelines for real-time and batch processing. Your work will directly impact business intelligence, analytics, and AI/ML applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python, SQL, and Databricks
• Implement ELT frameworks for transforming, enriching, and processing large datasets
• Design data models and optimize query performance and cost-efficiency
• Ensure data security, compliance, and governance (GDPR, privacy regulations)
• Build and automate CI/CD pipelines for efficient data operations
• Work with real-time data processing tools such as Kafka, AWS Kinesis, or Azure Stream Analytics
• Partner with data analysts, product teams, and engineers to ensure seamless data accessibility
• Research emerging technologies to improve our data engineering capabilities
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to code reviews and best practices

Skills & Experience:

• Strong expertise in Python and SQL for data engineering
• Hands-on experience with Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, Delta Live Tables
• Experience in batch and real-time data processing
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Databricks)
• Solid understanding of data security, privacy regulations, and governance
• Experience in data DevOps (Terraform, GitHub, DevOps pipelines)
• Agile team experience in Scrum/Kanban environments
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to optimize large-scale data architectures

Bonus Points:

• Knowledge of payments, insurance, or financial services
• Experience supporting AI/ML data pipelines
• Background in software engineering and automated data testing
