With the UK government's ambitious goal of delivering 60GW of solar power by 2030, Solar Careers UK are on a mission to help recruit, train, and place over 60,000 new professionals into rewarding careers within the solar and battery storage industry.

Solar Careers UK, is a division of the solar industry's trade association Solar Energy UK, who represent 425+ solar businesses, many that specialise in providing high quality solar installations to domestic, commercial, and utility-scale clients. We have been asked to assist them with the recruitment of full-time and permanent installation teams from across all regions of the United Kingdom.

The business founded in 2007 to become a leading market participant in the international solar sector. Since its inception, it has been active in the development, construction, and ownership of solar assets across multiple jurisdictions is looking for a Data Analyst / Document Controller - to work Hybrid - 2 days office (London), 3 days remote.

Title: Data Analyst / Document Controller

Reporting Line: Group Head of IT & Security

THE ROLE

We're seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst with a strong emphasis on SharePoint administration. This role will also encompass some document controller and data protection clerk duties. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing our SharePoint environment, ensuring efficient data management, and maintaining compliance with data protection regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

SharePoint Administration

  1. Manage and optimize the SharePoint environment to ensure efficient data management and collaboration across the organization.
  2. Analyze business requirements, design SharePoint solutions, and provide ongoing support and maintenance.
  3. Collaborate with IT operations and IT Security to align implementation with Group IT strategy, policies, and architecture.
  4. Manage a large volume of documentation contained in multiple SharePoint sites.
  5. Provide solutions for document management needs and ensure a highly customer-centric approach.

Document Controller Duties
  1. Ensure that all day-to-day operational activities related to document management are carried out in a timely and reliable manner.
  2. Respond to and action helpdesk issues related to document management.
  3. Maintain and update documentation based on business requirements and compliance needs.
  4. Interface with business stakeholders to fulfill various data requests and ensure the smooth running of the company's Information Technology department.

Data Protection Clerk Duties
  1. Advise on appropriate data protection measures for any new types of data.
  2. Ensure compliance with data protection regulations, including GDPR.
  3. Develop and maintain data access guidelines and data classification labels.
  4. Identify all systems that process personal data and ensure processes and procedures are in place to satisfy Subject Access Request (SAR) requirements.
  5. Maintain an asset management process and ensure all IT assets are identified, registered, and physically protected from threats.

Skills & Competencies
  1. Time management & prioritization skills - things can get a little hectic, so the ability to effectively manage yourself and your workload is critical.
  2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (in English or/and other European languages) - you must be able to organize your thoughts in a way that others find clear and compelling. You will be expected to together well-written, grammatically correct emails and other communications. When communicating verbally - whether over the phone, on video calls, in person or in meetings - you will need to be articulate, warm and engaging.
  3. Flexibility - being an effective team player means being flexible in your approach and open to getting involved with new things, even if they are not spelt out in your job description.
  4. Intellectual Curiosity - we are looking for someone who is truly interested in our profession and has the intellectual curiosity to delve deep into topics and bring fresh ideas to the team.
  5. IT Literacy - you need to be comfortable with IT systems and working with data (you should have at least intermediate-level excel).
  6. Delivery focus - it may sound obvious, but the ability to proactively churn through work at pace and deliver quality outputs really matters.
  7. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Experience & Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  2. Proven experience in SharePoint administration and data management.
  3. Strong understanding of data protection regulations, including GDPR.
  4. Experience with document management systems and processes.
  5. Knowledge of data protection and privacy legislation.
  6. Familiarity with IT support and helpdesk systems.
