OVERVIEW

CAABasearesearchingforaDataAnalysttojointheexistingAnalysisdepartmentattheagency.Reporting tothe PlayerID&DataInsightsManager,andworkingcloselywith2DataScientistsandthewider‘Design& Analysis’ team, this role would suit a data-driven football enthusiast with strong analytical andcommunication skills as well as a deep knowledge of players and tactics.The ability to interpret complexfootballdataandtocommunicatetheactionable insightsinaconciseandcompellingmannerinbothwritten and verbal presentation formats to both internal and external audiences (varying in theirknowledgeoffootballdata)isfundamental.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Useyourexceptionalknowledgeoffootballdatatoderiveaccurateinsightsonprofessionalfootball players, managers/coaches, and team tactical systems – translating and communicatingthese in both written and verbal formats to an exceptional standard tocolleagues, clients, andotherkeystakeholders.

  • Work closely with the Design & Analysis team internally to optimally leverage data insights withinpresentations andotherdocumentation.

  • Play a leading role in the recruitment process of new clients (identifying, tracking and monitoringtalentbothat aseniorandyouthlevel),developmentofexistingclients,and contract negotiation processes through the application of data analysis.

  • Deliverpresentations&discussfootballfromadata-drivenperspectiveinanarticulateandengagingmanner–to audienceswithavarietyoftechnicalknowledge(bothintermsoffootball&data!).

  • Stayawareofthelatestdevelopmentsandresearchwithinthe‘footballanalytics’industry.

  • Buildanddeveloprelationshipswithdataanalystsworkinginclubs.

  • Enhanceexistingprocesses&workflows–applytheanalyticaltoolsdevelopedbyourDataScientists,andwork withthemtocontinuouslyideatefuturesolutionsandnewmethodsbycombiningtechnicalexpertisewithfootball knowledgetosolveuniquechallengesinfootball analytics,wheretraditionalmethodsoftenneedtobeadaptedor reinvented.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Football enthusiast with a passion for the rigorous analysis of football and data-driven decision making,andadetailed understandingoffootballandtactics.

  • Experienceusingdatatoanalysefootball–players,tacticalframeworks,coachesetc–withadetailedknowledgeof the‘footballanalytics’landscape-havinghandledvariousdifferentmetrics,performancemodels,andadvanced statisticstoanalyseperformanceandidentifyplayers - which may include experience of working with performance data products (e.g. Wyscout,Skillcorner,StatsBomb).

  • Prior experience in an elite football environment as a data, recruitment, or performance analyst is preferred. However, a strong interest in the field, supported by a demonstrable portfolio of work and relevant transferable skills, may also be highly valuable.

  • Excellentunderstandingofdata-drivenplayeridentificationprocessesinfootball.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English to present insights clearly andconcisely– includingexperiencepresentinginsightstobothtechnical&non-technical audiences.

  • AbilitytomanipulatedatainMSExcel(atleast).

  • Acriticalthinkerwithaflairforinterrogatingandsynthesizinginsightstoderivesolutionsfromsometimesincomplete anddisparatedatasets,withanunderstandingofthestrengthsandweaknessesofusingdatatoevaluatefootball.

  • Positiveandproactivepersonality,team-orientedattitudeandexceptionalattentiontodetail.

  • Aproactive,structuredanddetailedapproachtoproblemsolving,beingcomfortableworkingacross multiple projects simultaneously to sometimes tight deadlines, with excellentorganisationalskills&abilitytoprioritise workload.

  • Abletoidentifydataqualityissues&tohandleimperfectdataeffectively.

  • Demonstrableinterpersonalskills,experiencebuildingrelationships,andcomfortabledealing withsensitivesituations withconfidentialityanddiscretion.

  • Abletodeliverprojectsindependently,showinginitiativetomakeinformedandjustifiable decisions,whilealso contributingeffectivelyaspartofateam.

  • Passionateaboutproblemsolvingthroughtheapplicationofdataanddriventoinnovateandimplement new ideas.

  • Astrongworkethic,withtheinternaldrivetoconsistentlypushtheagencyforward.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
  • EducatedtoDegreeLevel would be advantageous.

  • Experienceasafootballplayerorcoach.

  • Additionallanguageskills(e.g.Italian/German/Spanish/Portuguese/French).

  • Statisticalmodelling,anddatavisualisation,beingproficientwithprogramminglanguages(preferablyPython).
