A successful, small and friendly accountancy firm based in the centre of Epsom currently has 15 members of staff with a diverse client portfolio. The firm covers all aspects of accountancy including accounts, audit, tax, payroll, and bookkeeping. Most of their clients fit within the owner-managed business space across a range of industries, including investment property, construction, professional services, retail, and hospitality.
Currently, we are looking for a full-time Qualified ACA or ACCA Accountant to join our team.
As a Qualified Chartered/Certified Accountant, you will manage your own portfolio of clients. The client portfolio ranges from relatively straightforward personal tax returns to medium-sized companies, with the vast majority based around London and the South East. You will regularly be the clients' first port of call for professional advice, which means there are a wide range of demands placed on the role. You will be responsible for managing your portfolio of clients and the wide range of work that goes within that.
A typical week might start by preparing a set of quarterly management accounts. You then move onto preparing year-end accounts, including corporation tax returns and personal tax planning, passing the file to the Partner, and preparing all the handouts ready for the client meeting (which you’d normally be involved with). To finish the week, you might have some forecasts or business models for a client looking to grow to assist with their resource planning. There would usually be some VAT returns that need to be prepared and the ad-hoc advice required for clients using a cloud-based accounting package, like Xero. This is just a snapshot of a week – no two weeks are the same!
The role allows those working at a smaller practice to grow and develop their skills within a quality client portfolio.
The office hours are 8.45 am to 5.30 pm (4.15 pm on a Friday).
