Overview

At Starcom, our Business Directors aren't just leaders - they're innovators. As the driving force behind strategic masterminds for top-tier clients, you'll shape the future of media with ground-breaking solutions and revolutionary ideas. You will be leading everything on this client day to day, from global strategy and thought leadership, through to central coordination and everything in between. You will be the VOICE OF THE CLIENT.
We expect this candidate to be the very best and the top of their game. We expect you to be a self-starter who can not only drive the output across the different teams and practices but has the gravitas to manage the complex dynamic of the client and help them prioritise based on their goals vs their needs and wants.

Responsibilities

Role Responsibilities: Business Director

  • Client Leadership:
    • Serve as the primary voice for clients, ensuring seamless communication and understanding of their needs.
    • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as their trusted partner.
  • Strategy and Innovation:
    • Lead global strategic initiatives and thought leadership.
    • Innovate and create opportunities for client growth through data-driven insights.
  • Team Management:
    • Oversee a team of 25 from multiple disciplines, ensuring high-quality outputs and team cohesion.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, encouraging continuous learning and development.
  • Project Coordination:
    • Manage complex projects, balancing multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
    • Ensure flawless execution of strategies, from planning to implementation.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Drive operational efficiency, with a focus on forecasting, invoicing, and process optimization.
    • Ensure adherence to best practices across all client and team activities.
  • Business Development:
    • Identify new growth opportunities for clients and Starcom.
    • Lead and participate in pitches to unlock potential business avenues.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Encourage innovative thinking and brave plays in all team activities.
    • Set and achieve high standards for strategic output, never settling for good enough.

  • Global Experience: Proven track record with global client portfolios, especially in Retail and Digital (social, programmatic, commerce).
  • Analytical Insight: Ability to analyze data, spot trends, and create actionable strategies independently.
  • Hands-On Leadership: Dive into tools to identify growth opportunities and manage multiple projects with clear prioritization.
  • Strategic Thinker: Position solutions to unlock growth with accurate forecasting.
  • Team Builder: Foster an inclusive and effective team culture, ensuring seamless project delivery.
  • Effective Communication: Strong stakeholder communication with adaptability and emotional intelligence.
  • Proactive Problem Solver: Anticipate client needs, identify new opportunities, and drive innovation.
  • Pitch Expert: Experience in leading pitches from brief to presentation.
