Job description

Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Join a forward-thinking school in Taunton that is committed to helping every student thrive! This school, catering to students aged 11-18, specialises in supporting young people with autism, social-emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. With cutting-edge facilities, including a forest school program, sensory spaces and hydrotherapy pool, it offers a nurturing environment where students can grow academically, socially and emotionally.

What You’ll Do:
  1. Work closely with students in small groups or 1:1 setting, helping them navigate their learning and emotional development.
  2. Support students in engaging with therapeutic and creative programs, such as art, music or outdoor learning.
  3. Be a positive role model, guiding students through challenges with patience and care.
  4. Collaborate with teachers and specialists to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
About You:

We’re looking for compassionate individuals who bring:

  1. Experience or a strong interest in working with children with autism, SEMH or other SEND needs.
  2. A patient, adaptable and empathetic nature.
  3. Great communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with school staff.
  4. The ability to manage challenging behaviour positively and calmly.
Ideal Backgrounds:

If you have experience in nurseries, colleges, youth clubs, residential care or have personal experience supporting individuals with SEND, we’d love to hear from you! Graduates in sociology, psychology, sports, music, art or drama are also encouraged to apply.

Additional Information:
  1. Hours: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm
  2. Options: Full-time and part-time available
  3. Pay: £89.00 per day, based on experience
  4. Contract: Initially temporary, with potential for a permanent role

Salary / Pay Rate will be dependent on your skills and experience.
