The Role:

The role of the Area Manager is to manage a team of 10-15 Store Managers across a group of retail locations within Scotland. You will also ensure that all stores reflect the brand, operate with customer excellence, commerciality, and meet operational & stock targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively engage with store teams during visits, coaching, and motivating them on the shop floor to deliver an exceptional feel-good customer experience.
  • Regularly assess employee engagement levels using feedback from engagement surveys, create actionable plans, review store progress, and follow up visits.
  • Collaborate with the Retail Director to proactively develop action plans, focusing on performance improvement, operational optimisation, talent retention, and people engagement.
  • Oversee people planning for the area to drive productivity growth in line with sales and operational responsibilities.
  • Ensure store budgets and expenses align with targets and maintain cost efficiency.
  • Complete store visits at least monthly or bi-monthly with follow-up actions to ensure accountability.
  • Confirm that all training needs are met on store visits and that you have a proactive succession plan for performance management and high achievers.
  • Recognise and celebrate team achievements and engage with stakeholders accordingly.
  • Ensure all store team members complete required training for products, services, operations, and leadership in line with standards.

To Be Successful:

  • Ideally have 2+ years of experience as an area, regional, or district manager, with field-based experience.
  • Experience in the retail or hospitality sectors, ideally within a premium, customer service-oriented setting.
  • Experience working with different store formats – FP/Outlets/Travel concessions is highly desirable.
  • Most backgrounds considered, but fashion or beauty within a fast-paced or premium environment is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with excellent verbal, written, and IT communication abilities.
  • Results-driven and detail-oriented.

Benefits:

  • Working days are typically Monday WFH, Tuesday – Friday in stores.
  • One in four weekends required to work, with time off during the week.
  • Car or allowance provided.
  • Numerous wellness benefits, working for a sustainable business.
