The Institute of Environmental Sciences Landau of the RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau is looking for a dedicated research assistant (m/f/d) in the field of chemical analysis of pesticides and the ecology of insects to start as soon as possible. The position is part of an interdisciplinary research project investigating both chemical and ecological aspects in the context of environmental pollution by pesticides. Your area of responsibility:

• Carrying out and evaluating chemical analyses of pesticides in environmental samples (e.g. soil, water, insects).
• Investigation of the ecological effects of pesticides on insect populations.
• Development and application of multivariate statistical methods to analyze large data sets.
• Interpretation and integration of results from chemical analysis and ecological research.
• Presentation of research results in internal and external forums, including collaboration with other research institutions and stakeholders.
• Support in the organization of workshops and seminars.

Your requirements profile:

• Completed studies (Bachelor's AND Master's degree or comparable) in chemistry, biology, environmental sciences or a related field.
• Sound knowledge of chemical analysis, especially in the field of pesticides.
• Experience in entomology and the study of insect ecology is an advantage.
• Confident handling of large data sets and experience in multivariate statistical methods (e.g. R, Python, SPSS).
• Very good written and spoken English.
• Independent and structured way of working, high organizational skills and strong communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team and interdisciplinary cooperation, also with partners outside the academic world.
