In the Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mathematics at Paderborn University, the following professorship is to be filled as soon as possible at the Department of Computer Science:
W3 – University Professorship (f/m/d) of Software Engineering
Successful applicants should complement the topics of the four existing software engineering professorships — Empirical Software Engineering, Human-Centered Software Engineering, Secure Software Engineering, and Software Resilience — with constructive aspects of software engineering (e.g., Requirements Engineering, Software Architecture and Variability, Model-Driven Software Construction, or Programming Paradigms to increase software quality) and be excellently qualified in one or more of these areas.
We expect a willingness and interest to collaborate with the working groups in this field, with the department’s strategic focus areas (Data Science, IT Security, and Domain-Specific Computing), and beyond. Scientific qualification should be demonstrated through publications at leading international conferences and in software engineering journals. We expect experience in acquiring and executing externally funded projects. The position holder should be willing to participate in applications for large-scale projects, especially interdisciplinary projects, to actively participate in shaping new projects, and to integrate into existing research institutions.
Paderborn University offers excellent opportunities for this with research institutions such as the Software Innovation Campus Paderborn (SICP), the Joint Artificial Intelligence Institute (JAII), and the Paderborn Centre for Parallel Computing (PC²), potentially in leading roles. There is also the possibility for collaborations with the Heinz Nixdorf Institute (HNI) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechatronic Systems Design (IEM). Furthermore, we expect a willingness for interdisciplinary collaboration, relevant teaching experience, and the ability to teach courses in English and, at least in the medium term, also in German.
Recruitment requirements: § 36 Abs. 1 Ziff. 1 to 4 HG NRW (University law of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia) (completed university degree, pedagogical aptitude, Ph.D. degree and additional academic achievements).
Since Paderborn University seeks to increase the number of female professors, applications of women are especially welcome. In case of equal qualification and scientific achievements, they will receive preferential treatment according to the North Rhine-Westphalian Equal Opportunities Policy (LGG), unless there are cogent reasons to give preference to another applicant. Likewise, applications of disabled people with appropriate qualifications are explicitly requested.
Paderborn University is certified as a family-friendly university. With our Dual Career Service, we support your partner with career orientation in the region if required. We will be happy to provide you with information about living and working in Paderborn and help you to find childcare options. Applications with the usual documents (curriculum vitae, research and teaching concept, certificates and diplomas, list of publications, list of completed courses including teaching evaluations, information on current and planned research projects, research collaborations and third-party funded projects, language certificates if applicable, etc.) are requested by 28th of November 2024 (Ref.
