W3 – University Professorship (f/m/d) for Physical Chemistry

Applicants are expected to complement and actively contribute to the Department of Chemistry's focus on ‘Sustainability’ with a modern field of research. Methodologically, a focus on time-resolved spectroscopy is desired. This should be linked to a current molecular chemistry research topic, such as the development of new systems for energy storage and conversion and their investigation in real time. The realization of new sustainable systems should be a key aspect of the conducted research.

This profile is intended to complement and strengthen the existing inter-departmental and inter-faculty research activities in Paderborn. A possible connection to central scientific institutions such as the Centre for Optoelectronics and Photonics Paderborn (CeOPP) and/or the Institute for Photonic Quantum Systems (PhoQS), as well as the Centre for Sustainable Systems Design (CSSD) is advantageous. Active participation in and initiation of coordinated third-party funded projects is expected.

Applicants should be capable of representing the field of physical chemistry in teaching in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs for students in the major and minor subject. Participation in academic self-administration is mandatory.

Requirements:
Applicants are expected to be internationally visible with their research profile on the topic of time-resolved spectroscopy and sustainable chemistry, as evidenced by publications in high-ranking journals, successful acquisition of third-party funding, and national and international collaborations. Relevant teaching experience in the field of physical chemistry in German or English is also required.

Recruitment requirements:
§ Section 36(1)(1-4) HG NRW (completed university degree, pedagogical aptitude, relevant doctorate and additional academic achievements).

Since Paderborn University seeks to increase the number of female scientists, applications of women are especially welcome. In case of equal qualification and scientific achievements, they will receive preferential treatment according to the North Rhine-Westphalian Equal Opportunities Policy (LGG), unless there are cogent reasons to give preference to another applicant. Likewise, applications of disabled people with appropriate qualifications are explicitly requested.
