Your Profile

You are a high-profile personality with above-average knowledge and sound scientific and practical experience in the fields of construction operations and construction informatics and have completed a degree in civil engineering (Master's, Diploma) as well as a doctorate in construction operations or construction informatics or construction or project management.

You also have:

  • Relevant professional experience outside of universities in responsible positions
  • Expertise in costing, scheduling or work preparation for construction projects and in construction or project management
  • Experience in construction IT, e.g. development of IT solutions for construction practice.

Desirable are
  • Knowledge of programming, modeling and the introduction of digital methods

You are well networked in the industry and strive for active participation in the university's research activities (e.g. digitalization in the department, AI applications in the construction industry, sustainability in the STAMP research focus).

You will be able to teach construction management and construction informatics in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in civil engineering, including courses in construction informatics, GIS and modeling, calculation and construction management, project management and building construction (TGA/extension). We also expect commitment to the further development of our degree courses, e.g. with regard to interdisciplinary projects on modeling and the application of IT methods in civil engineering.

The subject areas are to be represented both in teaching and in applied research. We expect very good didactical skills as well as the willingness to participate in the exchange with our international partner universities and to offer courses in English. In addition, we expect committed participation in teaching basic subjects and possibly giving lectures in related subject areas.

We expect the applicant to integrate themselves well into the existing team both professionally and personally, to get involved in the academic self-administration of our university and to enjoy imparting knowledge from their own professional experience to the students.

The university has a large number of collaborations with universities and research institutions such as Max Planck Institutes and Fraunhofer Institutes as well as companies. Intensifying and expanding these collaborations is highly desired.

Active participation in the university’s research activities is desired. In this context, we strive to increase third-party funding and the number of cooperative doctorates.

We advocate a supervision concept that requires a high level of presence of the teaching staff at the university campus.

German language skills (at least level C1) and English language skills are required. Teaching language is mainly German.

The hiring requirements for professors are regulated in Sec 49 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate.

This full-time position is available from 01.03.2025 at the Kaiserslautern campus of Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences at the Department Building and Design in full time (100%).
