Our Global Customs team are currently looking for an experienced and dynamic professional to join this growing team as VP Global Customs & Regulatory Affairs. This role will ideally be based at our Global Head Office in Bonn, Germany; however, other locations within Europe are also possible.
YOUR TASKS
With a dedicated team of more than 10,000 Customs Experts and a presence in over 220 countries & territories and more than 150 million dutiable shipments processed each year, you will be a key contributor to driving Customs globally with the DHL Express division. As the Vice President Global Customs & Regulatory Affairs, you will also be responsible for ensuring global compliance to external laws and regulations. You will liaise with and support the regional Customs Compliance and Customs Regulatory Affair teams to ensure alignment to and achievement of global objectives. You will keep the regions updated on relevant changes and train employees as required. With your strong communication and strong negotiating skills, you will represent DHL Express in Cross Business Unit events and manage relationships with key agencies and organizations. You will advise senior management within DHL Express, identifying appropriate lobbying initiatives on legal and political levels. Innovation plus an appetite for driving continuous improvement and process enhancement will be your strength, as you will be responsible for developing tools and aligning resources to mitigate risks in customs clearance, as well as provide guidance on customs and external trade specific topics.
YOUR PROFILE
Bachelor degree in Law; specialization in customs and external trade law preferred. At least 10 years experience working in customs and external trade legislation and driving customs compliance initiatives. An understanding of logistics business is required. Success in building and enhancing customs compliance and risk management framework in multinational companies. Strong relationships with government and regulatory bodies; capable of influencing decision-makers. Senior level representational experience with strong professional network. Excellent written and verbal English; strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Strong influencing and consensus-building skills.
