To strengthen our team, we are looking for the next possible date for aVenue & Competition Manager Tennis (m/f/d) in the implementing company of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games.
Full-time / 40 hours per week / temporary contract until July 2025. The position is a combination of Competition & Venue Management which is part of the Sports & Operations department. In this role, you will be responsible for the planning and organisation of tennis before and during the event.
Specifically, your area of responsibility will focus on the following tasks:
Competition Management
- Final planning and realisation of the competitions in cooperation with the Sport Management and the Technical Committee
- Administration of competition procedures and participant lists in accordance with the specified regulations
- Preparing the meetings of the Technical Committee
- Coordination of sport-specific personnel and field-of-play volunteers
- Coordination and testing of the systems for ‘Timing, Scoring & Result’
- Support in the creation of technical manuals and other publications
Venue Management
- Specialist planning, organisation and implementation of the event for the Tennis Venue in cooperation and coordination with the Team Lead Venue, including the Tennis Back-Up Venue
- Management of the tennis venue during the event as the central point of contact for all target groups and trades
- Planning, preparation and follow-up of appointments, meetings and presentations
- Interface management between operator/landlord and organiser/tenant incl. coordination of ETUF staff, including groundskeepers, electricians if necessary, etc.
- Implementation and monitoring of compliance with official requirements, security-relevant regulations and ordinances in planning and realisation - in coordination with Functional Area Security
- Supporting the finalisation of overlay plans (already well advanced at the relevant start date)
- Development and preparation of schedules, timetables and personnel plans, the Venue Operational Plan (VOP) and coordination of the trades and people involved in the event on site (in particular volunteers)
- Co-operation with all functional areas of the LOC (e.g. sports, technology, overlay, logistics, security, accommodation, etc.) as well as with external service providers (e.g. operators, event technology, etc.)
Ideally you have the following skills and knowledge:
- University degree in the field of sports/event management or comparable
- Relevant professional experience in the planning and successful realisation of events, ideally in sports and especially in competitive tennis
- Experience in working with sports associations and clubs
- Experience in planning the deployment of volunteers
- Knowledge of sports structures/organisations in Germany and at international level
- Experience in the integration of volunteer structures
- Strong project management skills
- Well-structured, conceptual and networked thinking, strong hands-on mentality
- Sensitivity to the needs of participants and partner organisations
- Persuasiveness, assertiveness & organisational skills paired with high emotional intelligence
- High degree of flexibility and an engaging demeanour
- Fluent in German and English to ensure international communication
