Could you be the full-time Train Architect Engineer in our Hennigsdorf site near Berlin (Germany) we’re looking for?
Your future role
You’ll report to the Mechanical Engineering department and work alongside inclusive and multicultural teammates.
During project execution, we’ll look to you to:
- Manage project general studies activities (layouts, weight, gauge) in compliance with QCD commitments.
- At the early stage of the project, derive train mechanical architecture to stakeholders through volume allocations.
Responsibilities
Accountable for:
- Full batch of train and car layouts (trainset, car, cabin, CCTV, climatic comfort, consumable filling, coupling, curve, draining, external inscriptions and pictograms, lifting and rerailing, lighting, pantograph and catenary, references, retrovision, roof equipment, train access, underframe equipment, value).
- Preliminary 3D train and car allocation to derive train architecture towards subsystems.
- Gauge & Kinematics activities and derivation to all stakeholders.
- Weight & Balance activities and derivation to all stakeholders.
Responsible for:
- Planning and piloting General Studies activities and related deliverables on project considering applicable instructions/processes and other specific Customer (internal or external) requirements.
- Managing production of General Studies deliverables in accordance with planning targets and TD Métier rules.
- Preparing and documenting General Studies Reviews (DRCL) according to project schedule and following up on main open actions.
- Escalating technical issues to Train Architecture Manager (including mitigation plan).
- Validating relevant Mechanical Domain deliverables (layouts, gauge, weight 1st draft of allocated volume, car/car and bogie/car displacement), and deriving validated elements to stakeholders.
Contributes to:
- Definition of mitigation plans covering a risk identified on Project Mechanical (multi-domains).
- Definition of Project Mechanical Decomposition (PBS).
- Collaboration with General Studies Domain Leader for continuous improvement (including RoE).
- By supporting TAM, definition of Mechanical architecture considering weight and gauge.
- Establishing of Certification & Validation Plans for General Studies scope.
All about you

- Graduated from high school or university.
- 4-5 years of experience in mechanical design.
- Deep knowledge of railway & rolling stock.
- Good capability with CAD software.
- Structured and organized with a hands-on approach.
