The Mercedes-Benz Group AG is one of the most successful automotive companies in the world. Together with Mercedes-Benz AG, the vehicle manufacturer is one of the largest providers of premium and luxury cars and vans.

As the E/E Systems & Hardware (RD/EBE) team, we supply technologically leading EE systems with premium series quality to Mercedes-Benz vehicles on time. Our RD/EBE department is responsible for the development of the electrical/electronic systems and the system design of the Mercedes-Benz HV batteries.

You will face these challenges:

1. Literature review of current state-of-the-art related to the topic, including an engineering analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of this technology.
2. Design and Development of an innovative communication concept by means of electromagnetic analysis, modeling, and realization of an RF communication concept with an appropriate antenna design (possibly including simulations).
3. Design, construction, and implementation of concept prototypes.
4. Definition of tests and final validation through measurements of the designed concept.

The final thesis selection is made in close consultation with you, the university, and us.

Required field of study:

• Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, or a comparable discipline.

Proven knowledge of following subjects:

• Radio frequency.
• Transmission lines.
• Antenna theory.
• Optoelectronic.
• Microelectronic circuits.
• Knowledge on communication protocols is advantageous.

Additional requirements:

• Strong academic records, with a constant curiosity for various aspects of science.
• Must be an independent thinker and a team player.
• Self-managed and proactive working style required.
• Ability to guide the given project through the entire thesis writing process.
• Working-level proficiency in written and spoken English (German is advantageous).
• Experience in Programming is advantageous.
