As a Technical Animator at Aesir Interactive, you will be the link between the animation and development departments. Your role involves integrating complex animations into our game engines (preferably Unreal Engine 5) and ensuring a smooth pipeline for the entire production team. You will work closely with our designers, programmers, and artists to create innovative animations that are both technically sound and visually impressive. You will contribute significantly to the performance and quality of our projects, ensuring that all animated content is implemented efficiently and runs smoothly.
The kind of stuff you’ll be doing:
Integrating and optimizing animations in Unreal Engine 5 using Blueprints or C++.
Creating animation graphs and rigs to ensure fluid movement.
Collaborating with design and development teams to incorporate animations into gameplay.
Supporting the development and implementation of character animations for humanoid and animal rigs.
Developing scripts and tools to assist the animation and art teams in their daily work.
Utilizing performance profilers to optimize animations for various platforms (PC, console).
Collaborating with programmers to solve technical challenges and develop new animation technologies.
Who are we looking for:
Main responsibilities:
Solid knowledge of game engines (preferably Unreal Engine 5) and their animation systems.
Strong experience in using animation software such as Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender.
Proficiency in creating animation graphs and animation states.
Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or C++.
Basic understanding of rigging and skinning techniques.
Experience in optimizing animations and working with profilers.
A strong artistic understanding of movement, posing, and timing.
Good communication skills and the ability to explain technical details clearly.
Additional responsibilities:
Experience developing and implementing animations for console projects.
Proficiency with tools like Houdini, MotionBuilder, or other procedural animation tools.
Experience in integrating audio and visual effects into animations.
Experience with motion capture and the implementation of Mo-Cap data.
Knowledge of post-processing and visual effects.
A background as an animator, technical artist, or programmer.
Initial experience in leading smaller animation teams or projects.
Motivation to learn German (for non-German speakers).
Experience with Motion Matching Solutions.
