Google Systems Development Engineer, Customer Deployments, Google Cloud in Munich, Germany

Responsibilities:

1. Deploy Google Distributed Cloud Hosted (GDCH) solutions at customer sites as well as internal reference deployments.
2. Perform day-to-day troubleshooting and resolution of Infrastructure issues (Network, Storage, Servers, OS, Kubernetes, etc.).
3. Interact with customers and internal development organizations to accomplish shared goals.
4. Participate in Customer, Partner, and Internal team Deployments and training which may require international travel.
5. Deliver train-the-trainer programs to equip Google partners with the knowledge and skills for effective customer deployments.
6. Participate in the 24x7 on-call rotation to support escalations from client deployments and internal reference deployments.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
2. 3 years of experience with systems automation, systems design and implementation, and technical infrastructure (e.g., deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting).
3. Experience in TCP/IP and networking concepts (PXE boot, Subnets, VLANs, Jumbo Frames, LACP, NIC Teaming, Unicast/Broadcast/Multicast, ACLs, DNS, DHCP, SSH, etc.) and in one or more areas of infrastructure: Linux, Kubernetes, Networking, Storage, etc.
4. Ability to obtain and maintain a Level 2 security clearance (SÜ2) under the German Classification Act (SÜG).

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience as a Customer Solution Engineer.
2. Experience in scripting (e.g., Bash, Perl, Python, Ruby, etc.) to help with automation of routine tasks.
3. Experience in Site Reliability Engineer or IT production systems engineering.
4. Understanding of physical server, storage, and network devices.
5. Ability to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.
6. Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to empathize with customers.
