Supply Chain Manager

Our client, a leading player in the automotive sector, is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Manager to oversee and optimize their entire supply chain operations at their Dortmund site. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role involves managing a team of 8 direct reports and driving operational efficiency across all areas, including warehousing, transport, customer service, and material planning.

The ideal candidate will have extensive, hands-on experience in managing the end-to-end supply chain, with the ability to foster strong alignment between customers, suppliers, and stock management. This position requires a practical, stress-resistant leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is looking for a long-term role within a growing organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 8 direct reports. Create a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring high team performance, identifying training needs, and delivering excellent service.
• End-to-End Supply Chain Oversight: Manage all aspects of the supply chain, from warehousing and material planning to transport and customs. Ensure that all customer shipment and inventory control requirements are met according to their specifications.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure a safe working environment, prioritizing safety first. Maintain full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and IATF 16949 standards. Conduct risk assessments that meet both legal and industry standards.
• Operational Excellence: Oversee day-to-day operations, aligning processes with company standards and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance. Focus on reducing obsolete stock and optimizing resource allocation to meet delivery and service level targets.
• Customer & Supplier Alignment: Work closely with customers, suppliers, factories, and subcontractors to meet order requirements and build strong relationships. Ensure effective communication across the supply chain to achieve business goals.
• Financial Accountability: Manage budgets, ensuring financial objectives are met. Provide management information (MI) to support strategic decision-making and operational planning.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement by setting ambitious targets for the team, identifying process optimization opportunities, and enhancing overall performance.
• Resource Management: Ensure resources are adequately allocated across teams to meet operational demands and service levels. Manage staff, equipment, and materials to align with evolving business needs.
• Compliance & Communication: Ensure that all direct reports comply with company policies, including health and safety, and maintain alignment with ISO requirements. Lead communication efforts to ensure compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Significant experience in supply chain management, particularly within the automotive or logistics services industries.
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop teams, particularly in warehouse operations and managing complex, end-to-end supply chain processes.
• Skills: Strong hands-on operational skills, with the ability to remain stress-resistant in high-pressure situations and solve real-world challenges effectively.
• Language: Fluent in German.
• Customer Service: Experience in managing customer service is essential.
