About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as
Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at Stuttgart, Germany.
The initial length of this overseas tour is 36 months with possible extensions up to 5 years.
Duties:- Review the work of subordinates and accept, amend, or reject such work and reviews results to ensure intended outcomes were achieved.
- Plan work to be accomplished, set priorities, and prepare schedules.
- Serve as a Senior System Administrator with focus on the operations and maintenance of domain controllers, automated support systems, backend servers, automatic data processing (ADP) equipment, data storage devices, and software.
- Work independently, or with other IT specialists, to load and maintain manufacturer-supplied software on multiple servers and storage devices throughout the command.
- Implement modifications to systems which interface between users, servers, vendor applications, and the operating system to control and efficiently utilize the product suite capabilities.
- Plan for and install original or new releases of server operating systems (OS) software.
- Ensure that the installation plan includes provisions for hardware testing, training, and documentation.
- Work with functional representatives to identify work processes and technical requirements, ensuring that all customer conditions are met to produce a functional and desired information technology product.
- Devise solutions with consideration of effects on related processes and files and alternate methods to accomplish desired results.
Requirements:- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain TOP SECRET eligibility with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). The IT classification for this position is IT I. Position is designated as Special Sensitive.
- Incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DOD Publication 8570.01-M.
- Overtime will be required on short notice.
- Incumbent will be required to temporarily work extended and irregular tours of duty to include days, nights, shifts and weekends.
- This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program. Must successfully pass urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
- TDY up to 10% may be required.
- This position is considered Mission Essential.
- In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position is considered as Key Essential. The position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the mission.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid regular or official U.S. Passport.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- The duties of the position may require shifted work hours based on operational or mission requirements. Permanent change of shift may be at the determination of the second level supervision.
- The incumbent may also be on an "on-call" status on a rotational basis.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year of specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by overseeing system administrators to ensure efficient task allocation and adherence to schedules; ensuring compliance with policies, standard operating procedures, and guidance; providing status reports on information system projects, issues, or developments; implementing and enforcing security protocol to protect data and systems; and prioritizing work assignments and setting clear goals for team members.
The specialized experience includes, or was supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
(1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations; occasionally reviewing work completed by others;
