Software Engineer 2 w/ 14 years experience

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Software development and maintenance of a large code base of Java, Apache Camel, Apache CXF and Spring. Experience with Java, Eclipse, maven, and Subversion required. Experience with Camel, CXF, PostgreSQL, JUnit Tests, SoapUI, Jenkins continuous management, JBoss Fuse (or ServiceMix), as well as experience with Linux is helpful. Strong skills in problem solving needed. Good communications skill a must.

CGI Resource tests the Java software programs for proper operation when integrated with existing code base. This testing is performed in the Government test environment in dedicated virtual and physical SIT labs within the OPS3 or R&D buildings. Completion of initial training for familiarization with the testing environment and processes is required before initial testing tasks. Properly qualified CGI Resources may modify the Java generation programs to enable successful completion of the SIT while preserving the key-generation functionality of the code. Properly qualified personnel shall possess demonstrated Java development experience. This programming is performed using the Government's Key Generation Software development environment, using the Government development processes and standards of that organization. Completion of initial training for familiarization with the development environment and processes is required before initial testing tasks.

Responsibilities:

1. Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
2. Design and code new software or modifies existing software to add new features.
3. Debug existing software and correct defects.
4. Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
5. Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories.
6. Make recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
7. Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards.
8. Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
9. Write or review software and system documentation.
10. Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, conferring with users or system engineers; analyzing systems flow, data usage and work processes; and investigating problem areas.
11. Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on any particular project.
12. Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance.
13. Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.
14. Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries.
15. Oversee one or more software development teams and ensures the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any particular project.
16. Design or implement complex algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints.
17. Perform quality control on team products.
18. Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
19. Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met.
20. Implement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.

Fourteen (14) years’ experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional software engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
