Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a
Senior Propulsion System Development Engineer (d/f/m)

Powerplant has the main role to integrate the Aircraft Powerplant technologies needed to design, analyze, certify, qualify, and maintain in service the aircraft developed by Airbus DS.
The main activities include the integration of Propulsion Systems (Engine and associated systems) and Secondary Power Systems including Auxiliary Power Units (APU) with all aircraft interfaces as well as the activities related to the engine performance and emissions.

Your tasks and responsibilities
Development and in-service support of aircraft propulsion systems for various military aircraft programmes with focus on combat aircraft.

1. Integration of propulsion systems into aircraft, i.e. specification, qualification and certification with respect to requirements, safety and reliability and according to the Airbus Defence and Space development processes.
2. In-service support for the respective systems and equipment.
3. Technical management of system or component manufacturers and/or suppliers during development and in-service support.
4. Solving thermo- and fluid dynamical as well as mechanical engineering tasks and problems.
5. Continuous monitoring of available technologies and identification of technology gaps.
6. Managing interfaces to related technical departments and functions (e.g. programme management, procurement, technical publications, technology management), supporting system engineers at team level.
7. Cooperation and coordination with internal, external, and international subcontractors, suppliers, customers and partner companies.

1. Aerospace engineer (at least 4 years university degree) or equivalent.
2. Minimum of 5-8 years in aerospace industry in engineering function/role are required.
3. Profound knowledge in the area of propulsion systems.
4. Profound knowledge of and experience in equipment, system and software engineering.
5. Solid experience in the area of (military) aerospace specific development, qualification and certification processes would be a plus.
6. Good planning and organisational skills.
7. Good ability to interact and communicate with international subcontractors, suppliers, customers and partner companies.
8. Ability to work in an international team, self-reliant and systematic, fast comprehension, stress resistance, being prepared for worldwide business travels.
9. English: negotiation level, German: advanced level would be a plus.
