Senior Patent Agent

Your Tasks

• Arrange drafting, prosecution, and defense of patent applications nationally and internationally.
• Functional lead of the prosecution team.
• Support for the monitoring and appeals procedures of industrial property rights of third parties.
• Task management between partner law firm and IP department.
• Advice on development projects and cooperation agreements.
• Support in monitoring technology fields and identify opportunities, gaps, and risks.
• Cooperation with R&D / engineering and product management teams to capture innovative ideas, categorize and review the potential value of such ideas, as well as the coordination of novelty search.
• Cooperation with the global IP teams inclusive "IP champions" in engineering centers.
• Internal patent analysis to determine the strength and value of existing portfolios.
• Perform patent analyses of third-party portfolios for several business purposes.
• Maintain a database for the collection of innovation ideas and coordination of permits to track potential patents.
• Groundwork for national and international litigation and enforcement measures - care of the patent database and coordination of the expenses for their care.
• Support for the preparation of quarterly reports for all patent and intellectual property activities.
• Propose applications to extend the patent portfolio to prepare protection of new technologies aligned with the technology roadmap.
• Build a patent fence on key technologies especially for the US patent portfolio part.

Your Profile

• A completed bachelor's degree in electronics engineering or mechatronics and ideally experience in the patent area.
• Very good understanding of US patent law for prosecution activities.
• Registered US Patent Agent.
• Experience as Patent Agent.
• Ideally industrial experience in electronics engineering.
• Strong technical understanding and ability to learn quickly.
• Strong analytical thinking and systematic approach.
• Precise and on-schedule work.
• Teamwork and active communication skills.
• Interested in an intercultural working environment.
• Good computer skills (especially in MS Office).
