Physical Security Department
The Physical Security Department for Vantage Data Centers EMEA is very hands on. In most cases, we manage, full-spectrum system specifications, site & system design, procurement, installation, configuration, maintenance of all network and server hardware and provide live-site physical security. We also work closely identifying & selecting trusted partner vendors and suppliers to learn about the latest technology changes so that we can make informed purchase decisions. We are always looking for ways to strike the best balance between human delivered physical security, technology, performance, and cost. Vantage Physical Security Department also participates in designing each of our new data center building’s security infrastructure. Position Overview
The Senior Manager Physical Security GER, CHE, ITA is a pivotal role within the EMEA security team. Vantage is looking for a forward-thinking, results-oriented, innovative Senior Manager with the ability to develop, execute and oversee physical security operations at our sites in Berlin, Frankfurt, Zurich and Milan. As Senior Manager, Physical Security you will be expected to manage your team of security managers, ensuring their compliance with security policies and procedures, all staff are fully trained to deliver their roles, adhere to standards and core principles while optimizing the effectiveness and efficiency of physical security at your facilities in region. You will be responsible for site budget submissions, in-year expenditure, all contracts and ensuring vendors comply with Vantage third party risk management and onboarding policies. You will champion new initiatives for the physical security team and oversee planning processes and delegations across multiple business partner teams. You will contribute and help drive the development of long-term corporate strategy and goals. You will partner with our two Senior Managers Regional Physical Security EMEA for UK/IRE/POL and ZAF as well as Senior Manager Security Systems Engineer, Design and Engineering Team, Director Physical Security Delivery, Site Operations Directors and Customer Experience teams.
Essential Job Functions
- Deputise as required for Vice President Physical Security EMEA covering the EMEA region for: executive level engagement, routine reports, audits and accreditations, department recruitment, threat & risk management, site & system security design, construction portfolio & delivery, live site security operations and budget management including business case submissions
- Manage, lead and empower your team of subordinate security managers ensuring compliance with the organisations’ security policy & procedures while guaranteeing optimum operational performance in order to support the integrated business plan
- In partnership with the Vice President Physical Security EMEA, develop, implement and manage a sustainable security programme to protect your business operation
- In partnership with the Vice President Physical Security EMEA, identify, analyse and instigate innovative, cutting edge physical security ‘best practice’ to protect your Vantage operations, assets and reputation through robust compliance with local regulations, policy and procedures
- Lead and enable your Security Managers to identify, prevent and prepare for any hostile or damaging event through thorough preparation and training of security processes and procedures to reduce risk to the business
- Strong relationship management skills across the business and with international partners. Cultural understanding is a core requirement of the global business
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, in writing and verbally, across all tiers of the business structure and organisation including senior leadership, customers and key stakeholders
- Ability to analyse detailed and partial information across a wide range of security related areas and provide tactical and regional level advice within the Vantage business context
- Understand strategic business issues in relation to Vantage’s regional environment in particular; political, economic, technological and legal impact on operational delivery
Duties
- Line manager for EMEA based security managers in-region including setting of goals & objectives, annual performance assessment & appraisals, absence management
- Act as ‘first point of escalation’ for in-region based security managers for both routine and critical event management
- Work collaboratively with other key stakeholders, departments, vendors and customers to support the achievement of Vantage goals and objectives
- Manage and scrutinise individual site Security Risk Registers
- Develop and implement individual & collective training plans and personal records for all security staff
- Responsible for in-region physical security policies and procedures, ensuring they reflect emerging risk and industry best practice
- Manage weekly site security governance and compliance logs with individual site security managers
- Ensure site security force vendors provide quality service including staff capability, training, performance and monthly reporting in accordance with agreed contracts
- Responsible to the Vice President Physical Security for in-year Capex additional cost and annual Opex expenditure first level scrutiny including travel & entertainment costs
- Represent in-region Security Managers at weekly Vice President Security Update Meeting
- Provide routine updates and reports on site security function as required
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professionally recognized qualification in Security Management (CSMP, ASIS etc) or 8 years progressively responsible experience, in leading large, security programmes may be substituted in lieu
- Previous service in Military or Police service at managerial level preferred
- Demonstrate strong business acumen operating within the security sector, including in private business with demonstrable skills in delivering security programmes and associated budgets
- Must have demonstrable strategic and operational planning skills and experience in a complex environment
- Data Center security operations experience preferred but not essential
- Experienced in creating and implementing Security Function Policy and Standard Operating Procedures
- Demonstrable experience and knowledge of secure rooms, physical security requirements, CCTV, multi-factor authentication, and biometrics
- Must have a multi-disciplinary security background with knowledge in several areas including developing and implementing layered security architecture; risk and vulnerability assessments, compliance to implement information security related standards and initiatives
- Demonstrate detailed knowledge of physical security governance & compliance concepts including regular reporting to support internal & external audits, ISO 27001 & SOC 2 certification
- Ability to prioritise competing tasks to deliver timely, accurate written and verbal submissions in a fast-paced environment
- Travel is expected to be 25% (domestic and Regional), but may increase over time as the business evolves
