Our Inventory Accounting Team is part of ABOUT YOU Finance and is responsible for the accounting representation of all merchandise-related business transactions in accordance with HGB and IFRS – serving as the basis for internal and external reporting requirements. The team also manages inventory valuation, goods movements, and interfaces with financial accounting, continuously driving digitalization and process optimization in the area of inventory accounting.
As Senior Inventory Accounting Manager (m/f/d), you take on responsibility for key processes related to inventory valuation, warehouse accounting, and merchandise-related financial accounting. You ensure compliance with proper accounting standards, optimize existing processes, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Responsibility for the balance sheet valuation and booking of inventory assets in accordance with HGB and IFRS
- Monitoring and ensuring complete and correct inventory management as well as material expense bookings along the entire logistics chain
- Analysis of inventory discrepancies and stock deviations, deriving and implementing appropriate measures for process optimization
- Further development and automation of processes to scale merchandise management, especially within accounting systems
- Creation of reports and dashboards for inventory monitoring as well as monitoring based on data analyses and SQL queries
- Participation in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, especially regarding inventories and merchandise flows
- Coordination and close collaboration with internal departments (especially Controlling, Logistics, and Procurement) as well as external auditors
- Leading and participating in finance projects with a focus on inventory management, process digitalization, and efficiency enhancement
Requirements
- Completed degree in business administration, accounting, finance, apprenticeship as a certified accountant, or a comparable qualification
- Several years of professional experience in inventory accounting, accounting, or finance – ideally in e-commerce or retail
- Solid knowledge of inventory accounting in accordance with HGB and IFRS as well as experience working with auditors
- Very good MS Office skills, especially Excel
- Technical understanding, experience with ERP systems, and strong knowledge in data analysis (e.g., with SQL or BI tools) to optimize inventory processes
- Analytical thinking skills and enthusiasm for solving complex issues in the area of warehouse and inventory valuation
- Independent, structured, and proactive working style as well as strong communication skills in English
