We are searching for an experienced Sr AI/ML Applied Scientist to join our ABAP Foundation Model team in Berlin, Germany. This dynamic team is at the forefront of SAP’s cloud transformation efforts, leveraging large language models to accelerate our customers’ data and code transformation. The team collaborates closely with established teams in India and US, various SAP stakeholders, and early adopter customers. You will play a key role in shaping our next big investment and influencing ABAP Foundation Model teams globally.

What You’ll Do

• Imagine novel applications and capabilities to advance LLM-driven Code Intelligence, unconstrained by current limitations.
• Rapidly prototype concepts and iterate based on experimental results.
• Design and implement the necessary software infrastructure to support ambitious LLM experiments.
• Effectively communicate complex ideas in a clear and compelling way to inspire and influence partner teams.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of LLM architectures, training, deployment, and associated engineering challenges.

What You Bring

• Educational Background: PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in data science and engineering, with a proven record of leading projects to success.
• Technical Proficiency: Expertise in deep learning, large language models, and significant experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and Tensorflow.
• Demonstrated expertise in one of Java, C# or similar programming languages.
• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams and drive strategic initiatives.
