Scientist - Genome Engineering (gn)

We are looking for a scientist to join our team (full-time position). Suitable candidates will join a vibrant and growing start-up company that develops the next generation of disease models and cell therapies by editing and differentiating human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC) into relevant cells of interest.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead and contribute to genome engineering projects, utilizing advanced gene-editing technologies (e.g., CRISPR/Cas9, base editing, prime editing).
2. Analyze and interpret genomic data, employing molecular and cell biology techniques.
3. Design, execute, and optimize experiments in stem cell biology, including iPSC culture, differentiation, and characterization.
4. Contribute to the establishment of master cell banks under GMP conditions.
5. Manipulate human cells using various nucleic acid delivery techniques.
6. Critically analyze and interpret data and define realistic timelines for studies.
7. Work closely with and communicate results to internal teams as well as to external partners.

Qualifications:

1. Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Stem Cell Biology, or a related field.
2. Proven expertise in genome engineering projects, including CRISPR-based gene editing.
3. Preferably a background in stem cell biology, including hands-on experience with iPSC culture and differentiation.
4. Good command of English as well as German.

The salary will depend on qualifications and professional experience and is calculated in accordance with the civil service salary scales (TVL). The position is initially for two years with the possibility of a permanent extension.

ISAR Bioscience GmbH is a translational research company in Planegg near Munich, supported by the Free State of Bavaria. Our research focuses on (auto-)immune diseases, degenerative diseases of the brain (Alzheimer's) and the heart. We use human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) technologies to develop disease models for the discovery of novel drugs and cell therapies. In doing so, we enter into strategic partnerships with research institutions and industrial companies.
