The group MSK is responsible for real-time data analysis and fast-feedback controls of beam stabilisation systems, radiofrequency cavity control, special diagnostics and precision synchronisation of particle accelerators at DESY. We are an international team of technicians, engineers and scientists who develop, install and operate complex instruments and embedded systems for the EuXFEL, FLASH and at PETRA.

About your role:

• Develop firmware for complex electronic modules focused on digital signal processing and high-speed control and feedback systems using VHDL and C/C++
• Create firmware for operating advanced electronics based on Xilinx Kintex 7, Zynq SoC and MPSoC, UltraScale+, FPGAs, and RFSoCs
• Design and implement feedback control systems and algorithms
• Integrate firmware and software systems as part of the LISA project for gravitational wave detection
• Maintain and enhance the MSK firmware framework
• Document firmware projects comprehensively

About you:

• Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or related field or equivalent expertise, skills and experience
• Several years of experience in designing and developing VHDL programs
• Proven experience with Xilinx FPGA and SoC technology, including hands-on works with Vivado, HLS and Vitis
• Knowledge on Yocto (Petalinux) and Modelsim is a plus
• Expertise in developing high speed IO interfaces
• Experience with MicroTCA crate architecture is a plus
• Good knowledge of digital signal processing and digital control systems
• Excellent team collaboration skills
• Proficient in English, both written and spoken
