Duties
- Serves as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist within the USAG Wiesbaden Installation Safety Office (ISO).
- Interprets existing safety standards and techniques, making judgment determinations on applicability in order to prevent mission impairment.
- Conducts accident investigations to prepare documentation that reflects contributing factors, root cause, and lessons learned.
- Manages the Respiratory Protection Program for the installation.

Conditions of Employment

- Position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid official U.S. Passport.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain a valid US Army in Europe (USAREUR) Driver's License.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain Safety and Occupational Health career program (CP12) Level 1 certification within 2 years of appointment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Specialized Experience
One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Working in a safety and occupational health program for an organization; 2) Evaluating work practices and physical conditions to control, minimize or eliminate hazardous conditions and accidents; and 3) Preparing risk assessments and hazard analyses for a wide variety of mobilization/contingency exercises, military and civilian operations and activities or equivalent for organization.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
Education
Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in safety or occupational health fields.
OR
Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
OR
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

Additional Information
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement.
- Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area.
- If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school, the Military Department will ensure that the child receives a free appropriate public education.
