About the Role

As a Risk Manager, you will be part of our Institutional Risk team and will be responsible for the regulatory risk management and risk control function according to the Minimum Requirements for Risk Management (MaRisk) at the ANZ Frankfurt branch including managing and monitoring operational risk. This includes governance of Outsourcing and IT Management.

You will support the ANZ Frankfurt General Management in all risk policy issues, risk management and risk control processes, carry out the risk inventory and manage the overall risk profile, monitor the Business Unit’s risk situation, develop local risk procedures, write regular risk reports for the General Management, and assume responsibility for relaying material risk-related ad hoc information promptly to the General Management.

What will your day look like?

As a Risk Manager, your main accountabilities will include:

1. Work with the business to minimise operational risks, losses and compliance breaches in the responsible areas.
2. Responsible for ensuring the BU meets the requirements, especially MaRisk and BAIT (DORA) as well as internal risk policies and procedures.
3. Prepare risk control reporting in compliance with MaRisk for the Frankfurt General Management and submit BU risk data to the relevant European committees.
4. Responsible for the BU Central Outsourcing Management as laid out in the MaRisk (AT 9) including outsourcing risk analysis, development of KRIs, KPIs and internal control system (ICS).
5. Provide subject matter risk advice to the BU on risk mitigation and incident/issue remediation strategies.
6. Monitor the BU’s risk situation and compliance with the risk limits in place on an ongoing basis.
7. Ensure that the BU material risks – including risks resulting from outsourced activities and processes – can be identified early, fully captured and adequately presented.
8. Derive suitable indicators for the early detection both of risks and of potential consequences across different types of risk, which are based on quantitative and/or qualitative risk features.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

1. Tertiary qualification required.
2. Strong experience in operational risk with sound knowledge of control, including outsourcing.
3. Knowledge of relevant German regulations (e.g. CRR/CRD, Banking Act, etc.), and in particular, the Minimum Requirements of Risk Management (MaRisk) and BAIT.
4. Able to use relevant group initiatives and approaches. Be proactive by taking action and be persistent in addressing issues to conclusion. Able to build open, strong and collaborative working relationships in an international environment.
5. High level analytical skills with the ability to think laterally and the flexibility to be able to work in an environment of change.
6. Experience in preparing risk reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
7. Fluency in German language essential as this role will need to interact with German speaking stakeholders and understanding German specific regulation.
