Research Software Engineer REMIND (m / f / d)

• Explore and develop concepts and tools for software development for model environments
• Develop and implement solutions for coupling models
• Expand the R-based open-source tools to handle various dynamic input data sources, handle model runs and generate and analyse model output
• Help researchers running models on the HPC (mostly R, python, Unix).
• Enhance transparency, reproducibility and reusability for the model workflows
• Improve accessibility and visibility of our work (e.g. documentation, tutorials, presentations)

Requirements:

• A Master’s degree in Informatics, Computational Sciences, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field
• Profound experience in programming, preferably in R or python; GAMS experience would be an asset
• Fluency in version control management (e.g. git and github)
• Experience with HPC environments would be an asset
• Familiarity in scientific modeling and model coupling is an asset
• Experience in software engineering is an asset
• Strong analytical and organizational skills and ability to work independently and reliably
• Team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills in oral and written English
• Capacity to familiarize yourself quickly with new topics
• Creativity and openness to new approaches
