About the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut

We are a senior federal authority responsible for vaccines and biomedicines that performs scientific research in the field of life sciences. Our institute networks with national and international players which makes it a competent partner for the general public, science, medicine, politics, and economics.

In the Data Science and Methods Section,

we support the Institute's divisions by providing mathematical, statistical and pharmacometrics expertise in the fields of regulation and research.

A motivated team will support you in the onboarding process. We look forward to working with you. You can expect a position that will present you with diverse tasks and responsibilities involving interdisciplinary project teams.

Your Responsibilities

  • Evaluating pharmacometric aspects and methods for MIDD (model-informed drug development) in the context of marketing authorisation applications
  • Providing scientific advice to drug developers (national and European) on methodological and regulatory issues in the field of pharmacometrics, modelling & simulation, extrapolation
  • Supporting research in the field of mathematical modelling
  • Participating in the development and establishment of regulatory guidelines for biomedicines
  • Representing the Institute and participating in national / international committees desired in the medium term

Our Requirements

  • University degree (state examination, master's degree, diploma, or comparable) in pharmacy, human medicine, mathematics, natural sciences, or a related course of study
  • Doctorate preferred
  • Extensive expertise and experience in pharmacometry
  • Expertise in the application of software for data analysis and mathematical modelling is desired (e.g. NONMEM, Monolix, R, Simcyp)
  • Strong interest in clinical and pharmacological issues
  • Regulatory experience is an advantage
  • Very good written and spoken English language skills; basic knowledge of German
  • Strong analytical thinking and comprehension; structured, independent working style
  • Ability to work in a team, strong communication skills, and the ability and willingness to work in an interdisciplinary manner
  • Conscientious way of working, resilience and flexibility

What we offer

A stable, multifaceted, and challenging position centrally located in the Rhine-Main area (Frankfurt) with good public transport connections (motorways / highways, airport, and fast commuter train). The successful candidate (m / f / d) will be employed on an initial 3-year fixed term contract. Part-time working is possible in principle. The payband is E 14 TVöD (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst, Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Public Service), Part I of Annex 1 of TVEntgO Bund (Tarifvertrag über die Entgeltordnung des Bundes, Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Pay System of the Federal German Public Service). The assignment to a payband is made based on the consideration of your individual professional experience. Disabled candidates (m / f / d) will be given preference if their skills and qualifications are equivalent to those of non-disabled candidates (m / f / d).
